Octoparse can collect product details and price signals from web pages, then export those records for comparison. It is a data-collection step in a product-assessment workflow—not a replacement for a spreadsheet, database, or analytics tool: Octoparse says additional calculations and analysis require another tool.

What Octoparse does in a product-assessment workflow

Octoparse is a web-scraping tool. It can gather information from product pages or search results, including prices and other page details, and pass the collected records to another tool for analysis. Octoparse’s Help Center puts the boundary plainly: “Octoparse is only a web scraping tool.” The price-monitoring guide says further calculations and data analysis need a separate tool.

That distinction matters when planning the work. Octoparse can supply the data for a product comparison; your spreadsheet, database, or analytics application is where you can calculate price changes, sort alternatives, and interpret the results.

How to collect product data and monitor prices

  1. Choose the source pages. Use product pages or search results that expose the details you want to compare. The fields available depend on what those pages present and what can be extracted.
  2. Build a collection task. Octoparse’s onboarding describes entering a target URL, opening it in the built-in browser, and selecting data in the interface. The vendor also points new users to templates and tutorials. This is Octoparse’s description of its workflow, not independent usability testing. Its price-monitoring guide provides the product-price example.
  3. Include a timestamp if comparisons depend on when data was collected. A date/time field helps distinguish a current price observation from an earlier run.
  4. Choose a run pattern. A one-time local extraction may suit a single snapshot. For recurring monitoring, Octoparse describes scheduled cloud extraction where the selected plan supports it. Check the plan details before relying on scheduling.
  5. Export the records. Send the collected data to a destination suitable for the next stage, then do calculations and product comparisons there.

Octoparse estimates that its version 8.5 introductory learning series takes 30 to 60 minutes to complete; that is the Help Center’s estimate, not a measured learning-time study. The learning-materials page describes the lessons.

Which Octoparse plan and features should you compare?

Plan fit depends on how you collect and hand off data, not just the number of products. The current official pricing page lists plan features and limits; those details can change, so check it for the latest terms before subscribing. Octoparse pricing

Decision What to check
Collection scale Task count, expected record volume, and export limits.
Run pattern Whether local extraction is sufficient or you need cloud extraction and scheduled recurring runs.
Data handoff Whether the plan supports the required export destination, such as a file, database, cloud storage, spreadsheet, API, or other integration.
API needs Whether API access is included and whether its capabilities fit your workflow. Octoparse’s API page currently describes 23 REST endpoints and an OpenAPI 3.0 specification; these are vendor-published details, not independently tested. Octoparse API
Cost and add-ons Subscription tier, billing interval, and any relevant usage-based or optional add-ons.

On the official pricing page accessed September 27, 2026, Octoparse listed 10 tasks and 50,000 rows of monthly export on its free plan, Standard from $69 per month billed annually, and Professional from $249 per month billed annually. These are vendor-listed terms for that date; confirm current limits, features, and billing conditions on the live page. Octoparse pricing

The pricing page also lists optional add-ons, including residential proxies, CAPTCHA solving, pay-per-result templates, crawler setup, and data service. Whether any add-on is relevant depends on the collection task; review its current terms rather than assuming it is included in a subscription. Octoparse pricing

A Help Center plan comparison published in 2025 shows different prices and plan details, so it should not be used as the authority for current pricing. Octoparse plans and pricing

What Octoparse does not establish

Vendor feature descriptions explain what Octoparse says its product can do; they do not independently establish extraction accuracy, reliability on a particular site, comparative performance, or whether a collection method is legally suitable for that site. Check the relevant website’s terms and applicable requirements, and validate the exported records before using them to make a product decision.

The practical boundary is clear: use Octoparse to collect and export web data, then use another tool for downstream calculations and assessment. Octoparse’s published examples and API details are vendor material, not independent validation of outcomes.
