The simplest way to turn a screenshot into a link is Google Photos: select the image, choose Share, then Create link. Send that URL in a message or email. Anyone who receives the link may be able to view the image, even without a Google Account, so crop or redact private information first.
Create a screenshot link with Google Photos
Google Photos hosts the image and gives you a URL that can be pasted almost anywhere. Its instructions cover both mobile apps and the desktop website; labels can vary slightly by platform or app version. See Google Photos’ sharing instructions for the current menu names.
On Android or iPhone
- Open Google Photos and sign in if prompted.
- Tap the screenshot you want to share. For several screenshots, touch and hold the first image, then select the others.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Create link. If you selected several images, Google Photos may create a shared album instead.
- Tap Copy, or choose a messaging, email or social app to send the URL immediately.
For one image, a single-photo link is usually clearer than an album. Select an album when the recipient needs a sequence of screenshots or when you expect to keep adding images.
On a computer
- Go to photos.google.com and sign in.
- Select the screenshot (or create/open an album and select multiple images).
- Click Share, then choose Create link.
- Copy the generated URL and paste it into your chosen channel.
A Google Account is not required for the recipient to receive the link, according to Google’s help guidance. The recipient still needs an internet connection and a browser or app that can open the URL.

Choose the right sharing method

Google documents QR-code sharing for albums, while Android describes Quick Share as file sharing across supported devices. Quick Share is therefore not a substitute when the recipient needs a URL that can be opened later or forwarded. Read Android’s Quick Share overview for device and transfer details.
Understand who can open the link
Use the bearer-link rule
Treat a shared URL like a bearer credential: possession of the link may be enough to view the screenshot. Google describes its URLs as unguessable, but also notes that recipients can pass them to other people. Do not put passwords, recovery codes, private conversations, financial information or personal identifiers in an unrestricted link.
Check the image before uploading
- Crop out notification banners, browser tabs, email addresses and unrelated documents.
- Use an editor’s solid-color blocks or blur tool to redact secrets; do not rely on a translucent highlight.
- Zoom out and inspect the final image for metadata or text that was outside your original focus.
- Send a test link from a private browser window or a device that is not signed in, so you see what an ordinary recipient sees.
Albums have collaboration settings
An album can allow comments, likes or additions depending on its settings. If you only need to show screenshots, review those controls before sending the URL. Removing one named collaborator does not stop people who still have the original link while link sharing remains enabled, according to Google’s privacy guidance.
Stop sharing a screenshot or reset its URL
Turn off an album link
- Open the shared album in Google Photos.
- Open the album’s sharing or link settings.
- Turn off Link sharing.
- Remove collaborators if you no longer want them listed on the album.

Know what revocation cannot do
Stopping sharing controls future access through Google Photos. It cannot retrieve screenshots that someone already downloaded, saved, forwarded or photographed from a screen. If the content is highly sensitive, share it only with people you trust and use a channel with access controls appropriate to the material.
Troubleshoot a screenshot link
The link opens a different image or an album
You probably selected multiple items or copied a previous share URL. Return to Google Photos, select only the intended screenshot, choose Share → Create link again and paste the newly copied address. For a collection, verify that every image in the album is meant to be visible.
The recipient sees an access or permission message
Confirm that link sharing is still enabled and that you did not disable it after copying the URL. Open the link in a private window while signed out. If it fails there, create a fresh link. If it works privately but not in the recipient’s app, ask them to open it in a current browser or update the app.
The old album URL still circulates
Turn link sharing off, then on again to reset the album URL. Send only the newly generated address. Remember that resetting the URL does not erase files people already saved.

The screenshot is hard to read
Share the original-resolution image rather than a thumbnail, and avoid repeatedly downloading and re-uploading it through messaging apps that compress pictures. For a long webpage, split the capture into logically named images or use an album so the recipient can zoom each file.
You need a URL but are standing next to the recipient
