You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S. For everything visible on your monitor, press Windows logo key+Shift+S, choose Full screen in Snipping Tool, and capture the display. These are different jobs: Edge captures one webpage beyond the fold, while Snipping Tool captures the screen, including browser chrome and the taskbar.
Choose the capture scope first
“Full-screen screenshot” can mean either a complete webpage or the whole monitor. Pick the row that matches what you need:

Capture a complete webpage in Edge
Use the right-click menu
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait for the content you want to preserve to appear.
- Right-click anywhere on the page and select Screenshot.
- In the Screenshot overlay, choose the option for a full page. This includes material that is below the visible viewport and would normally require scrolling.
- Review the resulting image. Use the pen or touch-markup tools if you need to point out or obscure something.
- Choose Copy to put the image on the clipboard, or choose Save to write it to a file.
Microsoft describes the feature as turning web content into a shareable image and says it can capture a full page or a selected area, including long or moving webpages.
Open Screenshot with the keyboard
On Windows, press Ctrl+Shift+S to open Edge Screenshot directly. Select the full-page option in the overlay, then mark up, copy or save the result as required. This shortcut is useful when the context menu is disabled by a site or when you prefer not to leave the keyboard.

Open it from Edge Settings
Edge also lists Screenshot as an entry point in Settings. The exact position and wording can differ between releases, so use the Settings search box for “Screenshot” if you do not see it immediately.
Capture the entire monitor with Snipping Tool
Use the Windows shortcut
- Press Windows logo key+Shift+S.
- When the Snipping Tool overlay opens, select Full screen. Microsoft defines this mode as capturing the entire screen.
- Open the resulting capture in Snipping Tool. You can annotate it, save it or share it.
- Use Save as when you want a particular folder, filename or image copy. Current Windows instructions also describe automatic saving to the Screenshots folder.
This method records what is visible on the display at that moment. It does not stitch the rest of a long webpage below the fold; use Edge’s full-page mode for that.
Use Print Screen for a clipboard-only workflow
Press Print Screen (PrtSc) when you only need a static image of the full display in the clipboard. Paste it into an image editor, document or message, then save it from that application. This is the shortest route when annotation and an automatic Snipping Tool window are unnecessary.
Save, annotate and share the capture
Edge Screenshot
Edge’s overlay provides markup controls and two immediate destinations: Copy sends the image to the clipboard, while Save writes it to a file. Copy is convenient for a one-time paste into an email or document; Save is better when the image must remain available as a named artifact.

Snipping Tool
Snipping Tool opens the display capture in its editor. Windows documents a pen, highlighter, shapes, crop and text actions, along with saving and sharing. Use Save as to select a location or create an additional copy when the automatic Screenshots-folder copy is not the one you want.
Which method should you use?
- Long article, documentation page or receipt: choose Edge Screenshot’s full-page option so content below the fold is included in one webpage image.
- A bug report showing the whole desktop: choose Snipping Tool’s Full screen mode.
- A bug report showing only Edge: choose Snipping Tool’s Window mode.
- Fast clipboard paste: press PrtSc for the complete display, or use Edge’s Copy command for a webpage-only image.
Common problems and fixes
“Screenshot” is not in the right-click menu
Use Ctrl+Shift+S instead, or open Edge Settings and search for Screenshot. Microsoft notes that feature availability and functionality can vary by device type, market and browser version. If the command remains unavailable, use Snipping Tool for a monitor or window capture.
The result shows only the visible portion of the page
That means a selected-area or viewport capture was used rather than full-page mode. Reopen Edge Screenshot and explicitly choose the full-page option. A monitor capture from Snipping Tool will also stop at the visible screen and cannot replace a webpage capture that extends below the fold.
The browser frame or taskbar is missing
That is expected from Edge’s webpage capture: it targets page content, not the desktop. For the browser frame, tabs, taskbar or other applications, use Snipping Tool’s Full screen or Window mode.

The full-page image includes a moving or changing section
Edge advertises support for long or moving webpages, but a page that changes while it is being captured can produce a result that differs from a single frozen viewport. If the exact on-screen state matters, use Snipping Tool for the visible display, or repeat the Edge capture after the page has settled.
The keyboard shortcut does nothing
Confirm that you are pressing Ctrl+Shift+S while Edge is the active window. If the shortcut is unavailable in your installation, use the right-click menu or Settings entry. For an immediate whole-display image, Windows logo key+Shift+S opens Snipping Tool independently of Edge’s Screenshot command.
You cannot find the saved file
For Edge, use the overlay’s Save command and note the location you select. For Snipping Tool, check the current Screenshots folder described by Windows, or open the capture and use Save as to create a copy in a known folder.
