Samsung Galaxy Ring release date and price: It’s already available—what to know about Ring 2

Short answer: The original Samsung Galaxy Ring is not still coming. Samsung opened U.S. preorders on July 10, 2024, and it went on general sale on July 24, 2024. As of August 10, 2026, Samsung’s U.S. listing shows it at $399.99 before tax and optional protection.

If you mean the rumored Galaxy Ring 2, Samsung has confirmed that a next-generation ring is in development—but it has not announced a release date, official name, specifications or price. Early 2027 is a reported possibility, not a scheduled launch.

The original Galaxy Ring is already on sale

Samsung unveiled the first Galaxy Ring at Galaxy Unpacked on July 10, 2024. U.S. preorders opened the same day, while general retail availability began on July 24, 2024. Samsung’s launch announcement listed Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, Amazon, AT&T and Best Buy as sales channels.

Those dates resolve a source of outdated search results. July 10 was the announcement and preorder date—not the date when the ring became generally available. Likewise, earlier reports based on a June 2024 legal filing suggested U.S. sales might begin around August. Samsung’s later launch announcement established July 24 as the actual U.S. availability date. Samsung’s launch announcement is the more authoritative source for the final date.

How much does the Galaxy Ring cost?

The current Samsung U.S. product listing shows the Galaxy Ring at $399.99. That is the device price before sales tax and any optional protection plan. Samsung lists the ring in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold, with U.S. sizes from 5 through 15. Color and size do not change the listed device price. Check Samsung’s current U.S. product listing before buying because prices, promotions and inventory can change.

Retailers may offer discounts, open-box units, refurbished rings or promotions that temporarily reduce the price. Those offers should not be confused with Samsung’s official listed price. Sales tax also depends on the buyer’s location, and Samsung Care+ or another protection plan costs extra.

What comes in the box?

The Galaxy Ring package includes the ring, a charging case and a USB cable. A wireless charging pad or power adapter may be sold separately, depending on the package and market. Confirm the contents shown at checkout rather than assuming that a wall adapter or separate charging pad is included.

Sizing is a major part of the purchase

A smart ring should not be ordered solely by comparing its number with the size of a conventional ring. The Galaxy Ring has internal sensors, and Samsung’s sizing samples are designed to help you find a size that keeps those sensors properly positioned against your skin.

For a U.S. buyer ordering directly from Samsung.com, Samsung currently says a sizing kit can be provided at no additional charge when the buyer does not know their size. During the purchase process:

1. Select ‘No, I don’t know my size’.
2. Samsung sends the sizing kit before the final ring size is selected.
3. Try the sample ring on the finger where you intend to wear the Galaxy Ring.
4. Wear it for more than 24 hours, including while sleeping.
5. Confirm the final size using the order link or Samsung’s order page.

The sizing samples are not functioning electronic rings. Samsung’s guidance also says the ring’s orientation indicator should face toward the palm, and the inner surface should sit against the skin without a gap. Finger size can change during the day, particularly as fingers swell, which is why wearing the sample overnight is more useful than trying it for only a few minutes.

Samsung’s sizing instructions explain the process and current size range. The free-kit statement applies to the direct purchase process; it does not mean that every separately purchased sizing kit is always free.

Is there a monthly subscription?

The current Galaxy Ring’s Samsung Health insights do not require a recurring subscription. Samsung launched the ring with its health information integrated into Samsung Health without a subscription fee. That makes the ring’s ownership cost relatively straightforward: the purchase price, tax and any optional protection are the main costs to consider.

Compatibility: the biggest reason some people should not buy it

The Galaxy Ring is not an iPhone product. It requires an Android phone, and Samsung’s published requirements include:

• Android 11.0 or later;
• at least 1.5GB of phone memory;
• the Galaxy Wearable app;
• Samsung Health version 6.27 or later in Samsung’s published launch specifications;
• a Samsung account; and
• Google Mobile Services for activation.

Samsung’s ecosystem requirements and comments from a Samsung health executive make the practical limitation clear: current Galaxy Ring use is Android-based and excludes iPhone users. An Android phone may satisfy the basic pairing requirements, but a Samsung Galaxy phone provides the fullest feature set.

Some functions are specifically restricted to compatible Galaxy phones. Double-pinch gestures for camera control and alarm dismissal require a compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone running One UI 6.1.1 or later. Energy Score and some Galaxy AI functions require a compatible Samsung Galaxy AI phone, Samsung Health and a Samsung account. Feature availability can vary by country, carrier and paired device. Samsung’s current feature and specification guidance should be checked for the exact phone combination.

Practical rule: If you use an iPhone, do not buy the current Galaxy Ring expecting normal support. If you use a non-Samsung Android phone, verify the basic requirements but expect that some Galaxy-only features may be unavailable.

What does the first Galaxy Ring do?

The Galaxy Ring is a discreet health and activity tracker rather than a miniature smartwatch. It has no display, so data, settings and notifications are handled through the connected phone and Samsung Health.

Samsung lists these main functions:

• sleep tracking;
• heart-rate monitoring and heart-rate alerts;
• skin-temperature sensing;
• activity tracking;
• Energy Score;
• automatic detection of walking and running;
• Cycle Tracking using overnight skin-temperature monitoring;
• Samsung Health integration;
• Find My Ring; and
• double-pinch gestures on compatible Samsung Galaxy phones.

The ring can be useful for people who want passive sleep and wellness data without wearing a watch. It is less suitable for anyone who needs a screen, live workout controls, on-device notifications, navigation or detailed training feedback.

Hardware, water resistance and battery

‘Up to seven days’ is not a universal guarantee. Samsung’s original launch specifications rated sizes 12 and 13 for up to seven days, while smaller sizes were rated for approximately six days. Current Samsung support information also lists larger sizes, including 14 and 15, with up to seven days. Actual battery life depends on ring size, sensor use, settings, connectivity and environmental conditions.

Samsung’s published launch specifications provide the test qualifications. Treat the charging case as an important part of the product: it makes travel and top-ups easier, but the ring itself still has to be removed and charged periodically.

Does the Galaxy Ring replace a Galaxy Watch?

Usually, no. The two products overlap in health tracking, but they serve different purposes.

Samsung says wearing the Galaxy Ring with a compatible Galaxy Watch can extend the ring’s battery life by up to 30%, because the watch becomes the primary device for some measurements. If the watch battery runs out, tracking can resume on the ring. This is useful for people already invested in Samsung’s ecosystem, but buying both also increases the total cost.

The current ring’s official automatic workout detection centers on walking and running. Serious runners, cyclists and athletes who need detailed workout screens, GPS, training metrics or broad exercise controls should compare it with a Galaxy Watch or a dedicated sports watch rather than treating the ring as a replacement.

Galaxy Ring 2: what is confirmed?

Samsung has confirmed that it is working on a next-generation Galaxy Ring. In June 2026, Samsung digital-health executive Hon Pak said the next generation was being developed, but did not provide a release date or specifications. Samsung has also indicated that a future Galaxy Ring remains part of its wearables portfolio.

There was no Galaxy Ring 2 announcement at Samsung’s July 22, 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung’s official recap covered new foldables, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Galaxy Watch9 and intelligent eyewear, but did not list a successor ring. Confirmed versus rumored

Industry reporting currently points to an early-2027 reveal, with some reports suggesting the timing could slip beyond that. Reports have also discussed a thinner and lighter design, longer battery life potentially approaching 10 days, fit or sensor improvements and possible iPhone compatibility. Samsung has not confirmed any of those details, and there is no official successor price.

The first ring’s $399.99 price is only a historical benchmark. It does not establish what a successor will cost. Component changes, positioning, regional taxes and Samsung’s pricing strategy could all produce a different figure.

Older pre-launch articles that predicted a price around $300 are also not useful as current buying information. Samsung ultimately launched the U.S. ring at $399.99. Examples of that earlier pre-launch coverage should be read as historical reporting, not as the current price.

Could the Oura patent dispute explain the timing?

Oura has an active patent dispute involving Samsung smart-wearable products before the U.S. International Trade Commission. The USITC instituted investigation 337-TA-1468 in December 2025. The existence of an investigation is documented, but opening an investigation does not decide the merits of the dispute.

Some technology coverage has speculated that the dispute, along with reportedly weaker-than-expected sales, may have affected Galaxy Ring 2 timing. Samsung has not publicly identified the litigation or sales performance as the reason for any delay. • You already use a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone.

• You are specifically holding out for a thinner or lighter design.
• You want the rumored longer battery life.

Waiting is not risk-free. The successor could arrive later than early 2027, launch at a higher price, omit rumored features or retain the same ecosystem restrictions. Buying now is the more predictable decision if the current product already meets your needs.

• Galaxy Watch: A better fit if you need a screen, GPS-related use cases, broader exercise features and wrist-based interaction. It can also complement the ring.
• Oura: Worth comparing for iPhone users or people prioritizing a mature smart-ring ecosystem. Check its current device price, subscription terms, app support and regional availability separately.
