What is Amazon Renewed?
It is a program where Amazon sells Open-Box, Pre-Owned, Like-New and Refurbished products inspected and tested by qualified Amazon suppliers. These products “work like new” products and come with “Amazon Renewed Guarantee” (more on this later in the guide).
Open-Box products are typically returned products. Pre-Owned products are second-hand but are assumed to have been properly taken care of and generally in good condition. However, Refurbished products are either returned or used (second-hand) products that have undergone diagnostic testing and necessary repairs.
Features and Testing
Products sold my Amazon in this category have the following features:
- Products have been inspected and diagnosed for errors and defective parts have been replaced
- Products have been thoroughly cleaned either by Amazon or by an Amazon-qualified and performance-managed supplier
- Amazon Renewed Products may be packaged in a generic (brown or white) box (not on the product’s original manufacturers box)
- The products are packaged with the accessories that would normally come with it if it were new. However, if any expected accessory is not included, the exceptions will be mentioned on the product’s Amazon detail page
- When held 12 inches away, the product will not have any visible cosmetic imperfections

Cool, way cool!!! When in need I usually go to the manufacture’s website ex: HP and look for refurbished electronics. I’ll have to check out Amazon, also. Thanks for that bit of info.
