For the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition (14-inch, Gen 11), memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded by adding or replacing a RAM module; the M.2 2242 PCIe Gen4 SSD is the documented storage replacement option. Before opening the laptop, confirm it is the matching Gen 11 model, then use Lenovo’s Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) and the component-specific service video rather than instructions for a different Yoga generation.
Confirm the exact Yoga 9i model first
Lenovo’s matching service-video listing identifies this generation as the Yoga 9 2-in-1 14IPH11, machine type 83SE. Check the model or machine type on the laptop or through Lenovo Support before following a procedure or ordering parts. Lenovo also has a separate Gen 10 Yoga 9i 14, so a similar name or appearance is not enough to establish that its disassembly instructions apply.

Memory is not a later module upgrade
Because the LPDDR5X memory is soldered, choose the required memory capacity when buying the laptop. Opening the computer does not provide a conventional memory slot for a capacity increase.

The SSD is replaceable, but check the exact fit
Lenovo’s specifications identify an M.2 2242 PCIe Gen4 SSD, and its Gen 11 HMM includes an M.2 SSD replacement procedure. A 2242 label alone does not establish compatibility: verify the exact machine type, physical dimensions, PCIe interface, and supported capacity using Lenovo’s parts information and the specifications for your regional configuration.
Lenovo Malaysia’s product specification page lists a 1 TB M.2 2242 PCIe Gen4 QLC SSD configuration, while its product-family page lists configurations up to a 2 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 2242 SSD. These are examples of listed configurations, not guarantees that every capacity is supported for every regional SKU or machine type. Check Lenovo’s Product Specifications Reference and parts information for your specific device before selecting a replacement.

How to approach opening the laptop
Start with the HMM for the Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition (14-inch, Gen 11), and use the matching 14IPH11 / 83SE video for the component you intend to service. The manual covers safety, parts, screws, tools, and hardware replacement, including the lower case and SSD. Lenovo recommends trained service technicians for repairs: “It is recommended that these products be repaired by trained service technicians.”

- Open the matching HMM. Review its safety information and the lower-case procedure before attempting disassembly.
- Choose the relevant video. Lenovo lists separate removal and replacement videos, including one for the bottom cover and another for the SSD.
- Follow the model-specific procedure. Use the manual and video for the exact screw, tool, and release sequence; do not transfer details from another Yoga generation.
- Verify the replacement part. For an SSD, check the computer’s machine type and Lenovo parts/specification information against the drive’s dimensions, interface, and capacity.
Lenovo’s video listing also covers the battery, heatsink, PMIC board, speakers, fans, LCD assembly, I/O board, microphone board, mainboard, and antenna module. A published service procedure means Lenovo documents how that component is removed or replaced; it does not by itself make the part a performance upgrade or establish that every repair is intended for owner service.

Why exact-generation instructions matter
Lower-case fasteners and internal release details can differ between generations even when product names are close. The official resources confirm a procedure for this Gen 11 machine, but exact screw counts, bit sizes, pry points, and clip order should come from that HMM and its matching video—not assumptions based on another Yoga model.
