Hisense 65H6D: At First Glance

Over the years, Hisense has been consistent in delivering electronics and television with great features. To continue with this legacy, the Hisense 65H6D was released in 2017.

The Hisense 65H6D is a 4K television that offers decent performance and a reasonable amount of ports. Moreover, this television also comes with some features that you might not find in other television brands.

Do you want to know more about this television and its features? Well, you have to continue reading!

Hisense 65H6D: Design, Dimension, and Weight

Talking about the design, the Hisense 65H6D features a simple but stylish design that is pleasing to the eyes. Basically, this television comes with thin bezels that border its display screen.

These bezels are made of plastic and feature a matte-black finish. Also, in the middle of the bottom bezel, there is a “HISENSE” logo that is beautifully inscribed.

This logo has a distinctive white color and it is really appealing to look at.

Turning to the TV’s back, this Hisense television features a plastic back panel. This back panel has a simple black finish and is somewhat thick.

As a result, whenever the television is mounted on the wall, it might bulge out and look kind of awkward. Speaking of wall-mounting, the Hisense 65H6D features 400 x 400 VESA mount holes for mounting it on the wall.

However, in case you don’t really enjoy viewing TVs when wall-mounted, this Hisense TV comes with a pair of legs. These legs are made of plastic and are positioned very close to the edge of the TV.

Therefore, you will need a fairly large table or desk to put the Hisense 65H6D on if not wall-mounted. On a positive note, the television’s legs are very sturdy despite their plastics build.

Hence, they should be able to support this Hisense television very well. Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop the TV from wobbling whenever someone forcefully pushes it.

Moving on to the size and weight, the Hisense 65H6D measures 1452 x 85 x 837 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 25000 g. Honestly, even for a 65-inch television, this TV is quite heavy.

In fact, there are lots of 65-inch televisions out there that weigh less than this Hisense television. A good example is the Samsung UN65MU8000 which weighs 23400 g.

In conclusion, the Hisense 65H6D comes with a rather decent design with thin bezels. However, this television weighs more than most 65-inch television out there.

As a result, I will be rating the Hisense 65H6D an eight out of ten in this design review section.

Hisense 65H6D: Display Features

When it comes to the display, the Hisense 65H6D offers average performance. To start with, this television comes with a 65-inch LED VA display that offers a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution.

Thanks to this 4K resolution, the Hisense 65H6D’s display should be able to deliver clear and realistic pictures. Moreover, as a VA display, this display offers an outstanding contrast ratio.

To give more details, this television’s display comes with a contrast ratio of 3500:1. Briefly, contrast ratio means the difference between the brightest white and the deepest black a display produces.

Furthermore, a high contrast ratio means that the display is capable of producing deep blacks. Therefore, with a contrast ratio as high as 3500:1, the Hisense 65H6D’s display should be able to produce deep blacks.

As a result, this television is ideal for viewing films with a lot of shadowy and dark scenes. Also, thanks to its display’s high contrast ratio, the television is ideal for dark room viewing.

Unfortunately, despite its impressive contrast ratio, the Hisense 65H6D’s display doesn’t support HDR or local dimming. For clarity, HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a picture technology that allows a display to deliver a wide range of color and contrast.

Basically, with the help of HDR, the colors on the display will look more realistic. Local dimming, on the other hand, is a picture technique that LED/LCD display uses to enhance their contrast ratio and black level.

In other words, blacks on the display will appear darker with local dimming than they would without local dimming. Regrettably, as mentioned earlier, the Hisense 65H6D’s display doesn’t support either HDR or local dimming.

To make things worse, the Hisense 65H6D’s display offers mediocre brightness. Specifically, this display comes with a maximum brightness of just 296 nits.

As a result, the Hisense 65H6D may not be ideal for use in bright or well-lit areas. In addition to its poor brightness, the Hisense 65H6D’s display offers poor viewing angles.

Therefore, the display will lose picture quality and color accuracy when viewed from the sides or extreme angles. Hence, you are better off viewing the Hisense 65H6D directly from the center.

That said, the Hisense 65H6D isn’t particularly good for playing video games. This is because the television’s display offers an input lag of 31.5 milliseconds, which is practically high for gaming.

In case you are curious, input lag is the time it takes a display to respond to signal input – for example, input from a gamepad. Moreover, the ideal input lag to get an excellent gaming experience is 15 milliseconds or less.

Basically, the lower the input lag, the better the gaming experience.

In conclusion, the Hisense 65H6D’s display lacks some major features that would have enhanced its picture quality. Basically, this display doesn’t support HDR or local dimming and has poor viewing angles.

Therefore, I will be rating the Hisense 65H6D a six out of ten in this display review section.

Hisense 65H6D: Sound Features

I know the Hisense 65H6D might have disappointed most people in the display section. However, this television redeems itself in this sound review section.

To start with, the Hisense 65H6D comes with a pair of 15-watts speakers that offers impressive sound quality. Furthermore, these speakers are really loud and can fill a fairly large room with sound.

Impressively, the Hisense 65H6D comes with a subwoofer which allows it to deliver a fair amount of bass. Therefore, users will be able to enjoy bass-heavy movies on this television.

In addition to the subwoofer, this Hisense television features a sound technology called Dolby Digital audio. This sound technology helps the television’s speakers to filter out unnecessary noise or unwanted frequencies.

As a result, producing clear high-quality sound. Moreover, with the help of Dolby Digital audio, the Hisense 65H6D’s speakers should be capable of delivering crisp and understandable dialogue.

For those who don’t know, dialogue is the conversation between multiple characters in a TV show or film.

When it comes to distortion, the Hisense 65H6D offers a decent distortion performance. Basically, when the television is at a moderate volume level, viewers won’t notice any distortion.

However, at the maximum volume, distortion may be a bit audible. Nevertheless, that depends on the type of content you are watching on the TV.

Besides, not everyone might be able to hear the distortion. For those wondering, distortion in this context is the deformation of sound frequencies, resulting in the production of awful sound output.

In conclusion, the Hisense 65H6D offers above-average sound performance that everyone would definitely appreciate. Besides, this television comes with a sound technology that enhances its sound production

Therefore, I will be rating the Hisense 65H6D a nine out of ten in this sound review section.

Hisense 65H6D: Ports and Connectivity Features

The Hisense 65H6D comes with an impressive amount of ports. Moreover, some of the ports are located on the right side of the TV.

Meanwhile, the remaining ports can be found directly on the television’s back. Therefore, unlike the right-facing ports, these back-facing ports might not be easily accessible when the television is wall-mounted.

Thankfully, there are more right-facing than back-facing ports. To give more details, the right-facing ports include three USB ports, two HDMI 1.4 ports, and a 3.5 mm audio out.

The back-facing ports, however, include two HDMI 2.0 ports, an optical audio out, an Ethernet port, and composite video input. In addition to these ports, the Hisense 65H6D comes with a built-in 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WIFI for wireless connectivity.

Unfortunately, Bluetooth is absent on this television. With all that being said, let us now discuss the television’s remote control.

To start with, the Hisense 65H6D comes with a chunky basic plastic remote control. This remote features a total of 44 buttons.

Some of the buttons that you will find on this remote include a full number pad. Also, the remote features a round-shaped navigation button at the center.

In addition to that, close to the bottom part of the remote, you will find about four dedicated buttons. These dedicated buttons enable quick access to streaming apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and YouTube.

At the bottom part of the remote, you will find a “HISENSE” logo with a white finish. Unfortunately, the Hisense 65H6D’s remote control does not feature a built-in microphone for voice input.

In conclusion, the Hisense 65H6D delivers a reasonable amount of ports that I believe will be more than enough for users. However, this television comes with one major issue which is the lack of Bluetooth.

Nevertheless, the Hisense 65H6D deserves nothing less than an eight out of ten rating in this ports and connectivity review section.

Hisense 65H6D: Smart Features

Unlike most Hisense smart televisions, the Hisense 65H6D comes with the Opera TV operating system. Although this operating system isn’t as popular as the ROKU TV or Andriod TV OS, it offers a straightforward and easy-to-use interface.

However, unlike most operating systems, the Opera TV OS offers a limited number of streaming apps. To be more specific, this operating system offers less than thirty streaming apps excluding Hulu and Spotify.

Among the few streaming apps that you will find on this operating system include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Pandora, and YouTube. Nevertheless, the limited amount of streaming apps doesn’t have to worry you too much.

This is because the operating system support screen mirroring. Therefore, as long as your mobile device and the TV are connected to the same WIFI, you will be able to mirror/cast content to the TV.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to cast/mirror content from your Apple devices to the television because the OS doesn’t feature AirPlay. To add to the woes, the Hisense 65H6D also doesn’t support Amazon Alexa or Google Voice Assistant for voice input.

In conclusion, the Hisense 65H6D features a less-popular operating system that offers limited streaming apps. To make things worse, the television doesn’t support either Amazon Alexa or Google Voice Assistant.

Therefore, I will rate the Hisense 65H6D a seven out of ten in this smart features review section.
