Hisense 50CU6000: At First Glance

Since founded in 1969, Hisense has grown to become a worldwide recognized brand. As a matter of fact, when it comes to television production, the China-based brand has established itself as one of the greatest in the world.

Moreover, Hisense has numerous affordable and expensive television models in its collection. Thus, in order to expand its collection, the television manufacturer released the Hisense 50CU6000.

The Hisense 50CU6000 is a 4K television that offers decent picture quality and a lot of ports. Furthermore, as a smart TV, this television comes with the popular Andriod operating system.

However, with so many great smart TVs on the market, does the Hisense 50CU6000 have the specs and features to be one of the best? The answer to that question is waiting for you in the remainder of this review.

Therefore, kindly read on!

Hisense 50CU6000: Design, Dimension, and Weight

To start with, the Hisense 50CU6000 comes with a decent design. To give more details, this television features thin bezels that surround its display screen.

Moreover, these bezels are made with plastic and have a glossy-black finish. In addition to that, you will find a white “HISENSE” inscription at the center of the bottom bezel.

Just like these bezels, the Hisense 50CU6000’s legs are also made of plastic and they feature a glossy black finish. Furthermore, these plastic legs are very thick and sturdy.

Therefore, they should support the Hisense 50CU6000 firmly without wobbling too much. However, as with most televisions in the market today, these legs are set to the extreme edges of the television.

As a result, you will be needing a fairly large table or desk to place the Hisense 50CU6000 on. Alternatively, if you don’t wish to make use of the legs, you will find four VESA 200 x 200 mount holes on the television’s back panel for wall-mounting the TV.

Moreover, this television’s back panel is made of plastic and features a matte-black texture. However, unlike the bezels, the back panel is somewhat thick.

Hence, when wall-mounted, the Hisense 50CU6000 will bulge out of the wall and look awkward. To add to the woes, the back panel of this television doesn’t feature a cable management system.

Thus, you will need to manually arrange the connected cables in order to make the television look organized.

Moving on, the Hisense 50CU6000 measures 1123.9 x 83.8 x 648.9 mm (W x D x H) and weight of 12900.1 g. When compared to the LG 50UH5530 and TCL 55S403, this Hisense television weighs less.

Specifically, the LG 50UH5530 and TCL 55S403 weigh 13199.5 g and 13380 g respectively.

In conclusion, the Hisense 50CU6000 comes with a decent design with thin bezels. Also, this television weighs less than most of its competitors.

However, due to its thick back panel, the TV will bulge out of the wall if wall-mounted. Hence, I will rate the Hisense 50CU6000 an eight out of ten in this design review section.

Hisense 50CU6000: Display Features and Picture Quality

The Hisense 50CU6000 features a 50-inch LED display that offers a resolution of 4K UHD (3840 x 2160). Therefore, this television’s display should be able to deliver clear and realistic pictures due to its 4K resolution.

In addition to its 4K resolution, this display is made with a VA panel. Thus, thanks to the VA panel, the display offers a great contrast ratio of 4,152:1.

For clarity, the contrast ratio of a display refers to the ratio between the display’s brightest white and deepest black. Furthermore, a high contrast ratio indicates that the display can produce deep blacks.

As a result, with a contrast ratio as high as 4,152:1, the Hisense 50CU6000’s display will be able to produce deep blacks. Thus, the Hisense 50CU6000 is ideal for dark rooming viewing and watching movies with lots of dark scenes.

Impressively, despite having a high contrast ratio, this television’s display supports local dimming. Just to be clear, local dimming is a contrast enhancement technique that involves dimming the backlight zones of LCD/LED displays.

Therefore, with local dimming, the already-deep blacks on the Hisense 50CU6000’s display will look deeper and darker. As a result, improving the black level, dark scene performance, and the overall picture quality of the display.

Sadly, as expected from a VA panel display, the Hisense 50CU6000’s display offers poor viewing angles. Thus, colors will lose accuracy and look washed-out when viewing the Hisense 50CU6000 off-center or from extreme angles.

Hence, to get the ideal picture quality and color accuracy, you are better off viewing the television directly from the center.

On a positive note, like most modern televisions, the Hisense 50CU6000’s display supports HDR. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a picture technology that improves the range of colors and brightness of a display when viewing HDR-supported content.

For the record, HDR-supported content is mostly found on streaming apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. However, despite HDR, this television’s display offers an average peak brightness of 268 nits.

Therefore, the Hisense 50CU6000 isn’t ideal for usage in well-lit or bright areas. However, in moderately-lit or dark rooms, the display’s maximum brightness is just enough.

Moving on, the Hisense 50CU6000’s display has a fast response time of 13 milliseconds. As a result, this television is okay for watching fast-moving content like racing sports and action movies.

This is because there will be minimal to no blur trails when the television’s display is viewing fast-moving content due to its fast response time. If you are wondering, response time is the amount of time that it takes a display to transition from one color to another.

Sadly, the Hisense 50CU6000 isn’t suitable for playing video games. This is due to the fact that its display offers a high input lag of 32.1 milliseconds.

Input lag is the time that it takes a display to respond to signal input from external sources like a wireless gamepad. As a result, the lower the input lag the display has, the better the gaming experience.

In conclusion, the Hisense 50CU6000 features a 4K display that has an impressive contrast ratio and supports HDR. However, this television’s display offers poor viewing angles and a high input lag.

Therefore, I will be rating the Hisense 50CU6000 an eight out of ten in the display features review section.

Hisense 50CU6000: Sound Features

For the sound department, the Hisense 50CU6000 employs a pair of 10-watt speakers. However, these speakers offer average sound quality and they are not loud enough.

In addition to that, the Hisense 50CU6000 lacks a subwoofer, which means it won’t be able to produce adequate bass. As a result, watching bass-heavy movies on this television might not be as appealing as you would expect.

On a positive note, the television’s speaker produces clear and understandable dialogue. Just to be clear, dialogue in this context is the conversation between two or more people in a movie or TV show.

Moving on, the Hisense 50CU6000 offers an excellent distortion performance. To be more specific, this television delivered an outstanding score of 0.037% on a THD test.

For clarity, THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is a sound test that measures the amount of distortion that an audio device is capable of producing. Furthermore, on this test, a score of 1% or below means the audio device doesn’t produce much distortion.

However, if the score is above 1%, that means the audio device can produce a significant amount of distortion. Well, as seen above, the Hisense 50CU6000’s THD score is way less than 1%.

As a result, the television will deliver minimal distortion even at a maximum volume level. As a matter of fact, if the television is at a moderate level, distortion will be totally absent.

For context, distortion is the deformation of sound frequencies, thereby allowing a sound device to produce less-pleasant sound.

All in all, I will rate the Hisense 50CU6000 a seven out of ten in this sound review section for its average sound performance.

Hisense 50CU6000: Ports and Connectivity Features

As hinted earlier, the Hisense 50CU6000 offers a good number of ports. Furthermore, these ports are divided between the back and the left side of the television.

The ports on the left side include two HDMI ports that support ARC (Audio Return Channel). Therefore, using either of these HDMI ports, you will be able to connect a soundbar to the television.

In addition to the HDMI ports, you will also find a USB 3.2 port and two USB 2.0 ports on the left side of the TV. That’s not all, there is also an RF port and a headphone jack on the television’s left side.

The back of the television, however, features two more HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, a composite video input, and digital optical audio out. In terms of wireless connectivity, the Hisense 50CU6000 comes with a built-in 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WIFI but lacks Bluetooth.

Moving on, the Hisense 50CU6000 features a basic Hisense remote control. This remote comes with a matte-black finish and it is made of plastic.

Also, the remote control has a full number pad as well as a square-shaped navigation button. At the bottom of this navigation button, you will find four dedicated buttons for YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Vudu.

Below these dedicated buttons, there is an italic “Hisense” inscription from brand recognition. However, unlike high-end remote control, the Hisense 50CU6000’s remote lacks an in-built microphone for voice input.

Thus, to conclude this ports and connectivity features review section, I will rate the Hisense 50CU6000 an eight out of ten.

Hisense 50CU6000: Smart Features

The Hisense 50CU6000 features one of the best smart operating systems in the market. To be more specific, this television comes with the Android operating system.

The interface of this OS is very friendly, incredibly fast, straightforward, and simple to use. Apart from the straightforward interface, the Android OS offers lots of pre-installed streaming applications.

Netflix, YouTube, HBO, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video are among the pre-installed streaming apps you will find on this operating system. Impressively, if these streaming apps don’t satisfy your needs, you may easily download more from the Google Play Store.

In addition to its impressive Andriod OS, the Hisense 50CU6000 supports voice AIs such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. However, you need to purchase a Google Nest speaker or an Amazon Echo to use these voice AIs.

This is due to the fact that neither the television nor its remote control features a built-in microphone for voice input.

All in all, I will rate the Hisense 50CU6000 a nine out of ten in this smart features review section.
