Do you need an Android smartphone, but you are confused about which to buy? Do not worry; this OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro comparison review is here to show you two great Android smartphone options.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro: At First Glance

OnePlus – the Chinese smartphone giant never failed to turn heads twice yearly since it debuted in the smartphone market. Even now that the OnePlus lineup has gotten a little bit overcrowded, OnePlus lovers are always still expectant of every release.

In line with this expectation, the year 2019 saw the release of the OnePlus 7 Pro in May and the OnePlus 7T Pro in October. Although these were not the only OnePlus releases of 2019, we will be sticking to them for this comparison review.

2019 was a productive year for the OnePlus brand as its OnePlus 7 Pro made a lot of lists as one of the best smartphones of the year. The OnePlus 7T Pro, which was a refresh of the OnePlus 7 Pro, was not left out as well.

I know you can’t wait to discover all the potential of the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro. Therefore, without further ado, let’s kickstart this battle by comparing the design, dimensions, and weight of both phones.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro: Design, Dimension, and Weight

The OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro look very much alike. Therefore, you will be doing nothing wrong if you cannot tell them apart.

The first thing you will notice about them is their enormous size. Therefore, I hope you do not mind a huge and heavy phone because they are all that.

Speaking of their size and weight, this is one of the areas where they are similar. The OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro measures 162.6 × 75.9 × 8.8 mm (H x W x D).

For their weights, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro both weigh 206 g. As I said earlier, these are no hide-and-go phones, and it takes a lover of big phones to appreciate them.

That also implies that the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are more comfortable to use with two hands.

If you are disappointed by the sizes of these phones because you prefer smaller ones, do not worry. Check out our smartphone reviews page to find more compact smartphones.

Meanwhile, if you don’t mind the sizes, let us move on to the other features of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro. To continue this section, let us take a 360-degree tour of these phones, starting with their front view.

The OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro have an edge-to-edge 6.6-inch curved display. In short, just by looking at the front view, you will realize that these phones have a modern design style.

The curved edges of the display are a healthy diversion from the common flat displays. Thankfully, with the edge-to-edge screen design, there are no bezels or notch to worry about.

Although the bezels are not entirely banished, they are so thin that you’d hardly notice them. With the bezels out of the way and no fingerprint scanner on the backplate, you might be wondering if these phones have a fingerprint scanner and where it is located.

The truth is, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro have a fingerprint scanner, but it is located on-screen. Hence to use it, all you need to do is place your finger on the fingerprint scanning region on the screen.

Impressively, the front camera employs a motorized pop-up mechanism. Most smartphone brands use this pop-up mechanism to excuse the use of notches, bezels, and hole punches.

Those were the homes for cameras and sensors on smartphones with thick bezels and notches. Therefore, smartphones that employ the pop-up mechanism can do away with thick bezels and notches without losing out on functionality.

That said, let’s proceed to the back view of these phones. When you flip the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro to their backs, you will notice their corning gorilla glass backplate.

The glass backplate is laced with a film that reflects in gradients of colors when hit by light. Aesthetically, the glass backplates curve to the edges of the phones, where it meets with the aluminum frame.

However, as with all glass phones, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are quite slippery to hold. Therefore, they stand a higher chance of dropping and most likely breaking.

Impressively, the glass is a durable corning gorilla glass 5, which is capable of withstanding a 1.6-meter drop on a solid surface.

However, it is better to be safe than sorry. Hence, it is advisable to use a protective case on these phones.

Thankfully, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro ship with a soft clear case. Hence, you will get extra protection while you still have your phone’s color for all to see.

Moreover, you will get all these at no additional cost, so it is a win-win situation.

For the backplate features, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro both have a triple vertical camera layout at the top center. Meanwhile, there is a laser focus sensor on the left side of the OnePlus 7T Pro’s camera module.

This is the first noticeable difference between the OnePlus 7 Pro and the 7T Pro.

The laser focus sensor is absent on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Therefore, it should help you differentiate between both models, but only when you flip them over.

Furthermore, below the camera layout of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro, you will find the dual-LED flash. Meanwhile, below the flash, you will find a “1+” logo.

Additionally, there is a “OnePlus” branding at the bottom of the backplate on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro.

Moving on to the edges, all four edges of both phones are aluminum which also reflects in different colors when hit by light. The aluminum on the sides transitions nicely with the curved glass screen and glass backplate.

The top edge of the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro houses the motorized selfie camera. The selfie camera pops up as soon as you launch the camera app or any other app that uses the selfie camera.

Also, as soon as you exit such apps, the camera retreats to its shell. The camera will also retreat if it detects the phone in free fall to prevent the camera module from breaking.

In addition to the selfie camera, the top edge of the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro also houses a microphone. Moving on to the bottom edge, there is a SIM slot, antenna line, USB Type C port, microphone, and speaker grilles.

It might impress you to know that the SIM card slot on the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro houses two Nano SIMs. Hence, to insert the SIM cards, you can eject the SIM card tray with an ejector tool that is boxed with the phones.

Having exhausted the features on the top and bottom edges, on the right edge, you will find a power button and an alert slider. Just like Apple, OnePlus is the only Android smartphone brand that adds an alert slider on its phones.

The alert slider helps to control sound by toggling between silent and ring modes without having to unlock the phone first.

For the left edge of the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro, the only feature you will find is the volume rockers.

This brings us to the end of our 360 degrees turn around these phones.

When it comes to colors, this is another area that you can differentiate between the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro. However, both models are available in colors that make their already striking designs stand out even more.

Specifically, the OnePlus 7 Pro is available in Almond, Mirror Gray, and Nebula Blue colors. For clarity, the Almond color is what we otherwise know as Gold; it is good-looking without being overbearing.

Meanwhile, the Nebula Blue color of the OnePlus 7T is a blue shade that succeeds as the most stunning of the three color options. Its backplate offers more reflection than the other color options when hit by light.

Hence, Nebula Blue is the best color for people that likes to draw attention. On the contrary, the Mirror Gray color option is more like black; it is a subdued color for people that wants to be unnoticed.

We have talked about the color options of the OnePlus 7 Pro; now, let’s talk about the OnePlus 7T Pro. The OnePlus 7T Pro is available in Haze Blue and McLaren Edition.

The Haze Blue color of the OnePlus 7T Pro is just a lighter shade of blue than the Nebula blue of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Meanwhile, the McLaren Edition of the OnePlus 7T Pro is a limited edition.

The OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition is a product of OnePlus’ partnership with McLaren (a British car manufacturer). The McLaren editions have a special patterned backplate design with a black and orange color scheme.

On the McLaren editions, the mute switch has an orange color. The camera module also has an orange-colored outline.

Design-wise, the OnePlus Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro have what it takes to compete favorably with flagship models from bigger brands. However, for phones of this caliber, it is quite disappointing that there is no IP certification whatsoever.

This implies that the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro are not water-resistant. Hence, you should protect them diligently from spills and every other form of liquid.

In conclusion, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro are premium standard phones with good-quality designs. Both models are identical on most fronts save for their different color options and the absence of the laser focus sensor on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

To summarize, the OnePlus 7 Pro has more exciting color options to choose, but the OnePlus 7T Pro features a laser focus sensor. In my opinion, I believe this leads to a tie of both phones in this section.

Therefore, I will rate the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro a 9.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro: Display Features

In this OnePlus 7 Pro vs OnePlus 7T Pro display features comparison section, I will discuss several display features. Speaking of the display features, we will talk about screen sizes, resolution, technology, and more.

Starting with the screen size, as I mentioned earlier, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro have a 6.6-inch display. Contrary to most smartphones’ flat screens, the screens on these OnePlus models have curved waterfall styles by their edges.

Unsurprisingly, due to the large screen size of these phones, they do not conform to the ideal screen size standard. Speaking of the ideal screen size, research shows that a screen size between 5 to 5.5 inches is ideal.

However, if we overlook the non-ideal screen size of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro, it does mean that users will enjoy watching media content. Texts and other screen contents will also appear bolder.

Hence, the big screen size could be a benefit after all.

Having talked about the screen size, let us examine the aspect ratio as well. Aspect ratio describes the height of a device’s display in relation to its width.

In that respect, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro both have an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It is important to note that this is longer than the 16:9 standard aspect ratio found in most smartphones.

With the 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the screen of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro will display more content vertically than phones with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It also means that the keyboard will obstruct lesser content on these phones than on phones with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Moving on to the display technology, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro both use a Fluid AMOLED display. The term Fluid AMOLED is OnePlus’ unique way of naming its AMOLED display just like Samsung calls its Super AMOLED.

The term Fluid AMOLED is also an important selling point of the OnePlus’ flagships.

AMOLEDs displays are well known for their lesser power consumption, displaying deeper blacks, than other display technology like IPS LCD. Meanwhile, OnePlus has mentioned that its Fluid AMOLED is capable of producing more vibrant colors and consumes lesser power.

The highlight of the OnePlus’ Fluid AMOLED display is its high refresh rate. It has a 90Hz refresh rate as opposed to the average 60Hz refresh rate of most smartphones.

With a 90Hz refresh rate, images and screen contents will update faster. You need to use a 90Hz display to understand the smoothness, as it will deliver an awesome experience, especially for gamers.

Although the 90Hz refresh rate will drain the battery faster than some people would like, you can always switch to 60Hz in the settings anytime you deem fit.

Let us proceed to the display resolution and pixel density of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro. Resolution describes the number of pixels present in the dimension of the display.

Meanwhile, pixel density describes the number of pixels found per inch of the display. That said, both phones have a QHD+ resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels.

You will find QHD resolution displays on high-end phones where the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro fit. QHD resolution displays have four times more pixels than HD resolution displays.

Moreover, the displays on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro have QHD+ resolution which means more pixels than the regular QHD. The implication of the QHD+ resolution is that the display is very crisp and sharp.

For pixel density, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro have 516 PPI (pixels per inch). This is an acceptable PPI standard for phones of this caliber.

The next display features we will look at in this section are contrast ratio and black value. In these areas, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are also identical.

As typical of AMOLED displays, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro both share a perfect black value of 0cd/m². This implies that the display produces true blacks, which in turn helps the display to achieve an infinite (∞:1) contrast ratio.

Moving on to the display brightness, the OnePlus 7 Pro will reach a maximum brightness of 597 nits. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7T Pro is capable of achieving a maximum brightness of 627 nits.

However, the display will only reach this max brightness if auto-brightness is enabled and the ambient light sensor is activated. You can read more about how the ambient light sensor works in the security and sensors comparison section.

Although some high-end phones can achieve better ambient light-induced brightness, the values produced by the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are sufficient. Consequently, the high screen brightness gives them good sunlight legibility.

This implies that the screens of the OnePlus 7 Pro are comfortable to use outdoors, even in direct sunlight. However, users might want to shade the screen from direct sunlight because the sun’s reflection can affect legibility.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7 Pro also has a minimum brightness of 2.16 cd/m². However, the OnePlus 7T Pro has a minimum brightness of 2.19 cd/m² (lower means better).

The minimum brightness of the OnePlus 7 Pro is slightly better than that of the OnePlus 7T Pro. However, the difference is not visible to the naked eye.

Consequently, with these minimum brightness values, the screens will be convenient to read in darkness.

Additionally, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro also have a feature known as ‘reading mode.’ Reading mode automatically turns the screen to grayscale and reduces colors in apps to reduce eye strain.

When it comes to colors, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro display support two color modes – vivid and natural. Vivid color mode produces decently saturated colors, while natural produces a more basic tone.

Thankfully, you will be able to set your preferred color mode in the phone’s settings. Meanwhile, in both color modes, the color coverage and color accuracy are impressive.

However, the natural color mode has better accuracy on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro than the vivid color mode.

Speaking of color coverage, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro covers 99.8% of the sRGB color space. Thankfully, that is a wide color coverage and it implies that these phones can display a wide range of colors.

The color accuracy of these phones is also impressive; you will hardly distinguish the reproduced colors from reference colors.

Speaking of the color accuracy, in vivid color mode, the OnePlus 7 Pro gets an average delta E score of 3.7 (lower is better). Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7T Pro gets an average delta E score of 3.3.

Likewise, in natural color mode, the OnePlus 7 Pro gets an average delta E score of 2.2 (lower is better). Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7T Pro gets an average delta E score of 1.6.

Once again, the OnePlus 7 Pro beats the onePlus 7T Pro in terms of color accuracy. However, you should note that these differences are barely visible to the naked eye.

Moving on to viewing angles, it is typical for AMOLED displays to have excellent viewing angles. Hence, it is unsurprising that the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro have great viewing angles.

You will notice little or no color distortions or brightness loss when you view the screen from acute angles. However, if at all you notice a little distortion or loss, it’s probably due to the curved edges of the display.

Furthermore, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro are HDR10+ compatible. This implies that videos and images will have excellent brightness, contrast, and color accuracy.

Additionally, HDR videos found on Netflix (and other streaming apps) videos will be more realistic. Each video frame will be treated to its brightness, color, and contrast accordingly.

Just like the rear glass of the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro, the screen glass is also made of corning gorilla glass 5. Corning gorilla glass 5 is a durable glass type that can survive drops to a respectable degree.

However, to be on the safer side, you can use a screen protector for more insured safety against screen cracks.

In conclusion, the display features of the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro are very similar. However, the OnePlus 7T Pro is outstanding (even if little) in areas such as brightness and color accuracy.

Therefore, it is worthy of being the top pick for this category. Putting these into consideration, I will rate the OnePlus 7 Pro an 8.

On the contrary, I will rate the OnePlus 7T Pro a 9.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro: Camera Features

The camera feature is another aspect where the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are similar, at least from their specs. To start with, both models have a 16 MP motorized pop-up front camera and a triple-camera setup at the back.

For the front cameras, both models use lenses with an aperture size of f/2.0.

Meanwhile, the triple-camera setup consists of a 48 MP wide-angle main camera with an aperture size of f/1.6. There is also a 16 MP ultrawide lens with an aperture size of f/2.2.

Lastly, there is an 8MP telephoto lens with an aperture size of f/2.4.

Performance-wise, the front camera of the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro supports Auto HDR. The Auto HDR automatically improves the color, contrast, and dynamic range of photos.

However, the Auto HDR feature on the OnePlus 7 Pro is mostly useful in good lighting situations. In low lighting conditions, HDR photos are usually noisy.

Impressively, the OnePlus 7T Pro’s selfie camera does a slightly better job with low-light photos.

In addition to the HDR feature, the selfie camera of both models supports portrait mode. This mode allows you to take selfies with the background artistically blurred while the focus is on the subject of the photo.

However, when you switch to portrait mode on both models, HDR turns off. Nonetheless, portrait selfies look good, and the subject separation is acceptable.

Furthermore, the front cameras on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro has a beauty mode with three beatification levels. The beauty mode is useful for smoothening the face in selfies.

For video recording, the front cameras on both models can record 1080p resolution videos at 30 fps. The selfie videos are stabilized by a combined effort of the gyroscope (to be discussed in the sensors comparison section) and EIS.

EIS is short for electronic image stabilization. Hence, the gyroscope and EIS help to prevent shakes in selfie videos.

Moving on to the performance of the rear cameras, the first lens on the triple module is the 16 MP ultra-wide lens with a 117-degree field of view. The ultra-wide lens on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro will enable you to capture a wider area in your pictures.

This can be useful for taking group pictures. The ultra-wide camera supports Autofocus which helps to keep images in focus, but it lacks optical image stabilization.

However, the ultra-wide lens on the OnePlus 7T Pro has been slightly improved than that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Speaking of the improvement, the ultra-wide camera on the 7T Pro is now capable of taking close-up shots, which is impossible on the 7 Pro.

Performance-wise, pictures taken with the ultra-wide camera on both models fit into the frame properly. Also, pictures taken in daylight are detailed and have good contrast, saturation, and dynamic range.

For night pictures, the ultra-wide camera on both models performs awfully. The pictures are blurry and noisy; however, that is not surprising, as most phones with ultra-wide cameras are guilty of this as well.

Another feature supported by the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro is Nightscape. This feature helps to brighten night pictures.

Hence, thanks to the Nightscape feature, pictures taken at night with the ultra-wide camera will be well-lit but still quite noisy.

Moving on, you will find the 48 MP primary camera a the bottom of the ultra-wide camera. The pictures taken with the primary camera are saved in 12 MP.

The primary camera supports phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and laser autofocus, which both help pictures to be in focus. Additionally, the main camera supports optical image stabilization.

Performance-wise, the main camera is capable of taking great pictures in daylight and night pictures. Thanks to the OIS feature that helps to slow down the shutter speed, pictures taken in low light are relatively bright, detailed, and have less noise.

The Nightscape feature also helps to brighten night pictures taken by the primary camera.

Having analyzed the two cameras in both smartphones, let’s proceed to the third one.

The third camera lens on the triple-camera module is the 8 MP telephoto camera lens. The telephoto camera on both models supports 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.

This implies that you will be able to zoom in on far-away objects while the quality is preserved. In addition to that, the telephoto camera also supports phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS).

Performance-wise, the telephoto camera produces great zoomed pictures as well but mostly in daylight. The dynamic range is good, and the pictures are sharp and detailed.

However, for pictures in low light, the result will most likely be blacked out.

Just like the front cameras, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro rear cameras also support HDR and portrait. Just like these features worked well with the front camera, they also do with the rear cameras.

For video recording, the rear camera of the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro is capable of recording 4K resolution videos at 30 fps or 60 fps. Also, they can both record 1080p resolution videos at 30, 60, or 240 fps.

For 720p resolution videos, the OnePlus 7 Pro will record that at 480 fps. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7T Pro will record the same 720p resolution videos at 960 fps.

Another difference between both models in terms of video recording is that the ultra-wide camera on the OnePlus 7 Pro is not capable of recording videos. Meanwhile, the ultra-wide camera on the OnePlus 7T Pro is capable of recording videos.

That said, similarly to the front cameras, the rear cameras on both models use the gyroscope and electronic image stabilization to prevent videos from jitters.

Overall, the camera performance of the OnePlus 7 Pro is identical to that of the 7T Pro; however, the 7T Pro has some slight improvements. Firstly, the ultra-wide camera on the 7T Pro can take close-up shots, but this is not possible on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Also, video recording has been extended to the ultra-wide-angle lens of the OnePlus 7T Pro. However, the ultra-wide angle lens of the OnePlus 7 Pro is incapable of recording videos.

Therefore, I will be rating the OnePlus 7T Pro an eight in this section of the review. Meanwhile, I will be rating the OnePlus 7 Pro a seven.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro: Battery Life and Talk Time

In this aspect, the OnePlus 7 Pro is powered by a 4000 mAh battery, while the OnePlus 7T Pro has a larger battery capacity of 4085 mAh. OnePlus has claimed that the battery of the OnePlus 7 Pro will deliver up to 34 hours and 24 minutes of 3G battery talk time.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7T Pro’s battery has been advertised to deliver up to 34 hours 45 minutes of 3G battery talk time. However, to verify these claims, we will consider a battery test performed by notebookcheck.com.

The test involves surfing the web over WiFi while screen brightness is set to 150 nits. From the test, the OnePlus 7 Pro lasted 12 hours and 48 minutes.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 7T Pro lasted 15 hours and 12 minutes in the same test. When it comes to charging, the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro support “Warp Charge.”

The OnePlus 7 Pro uses the warp charge 30 fast charging technology. This enables the OnePlus 7 Pro’s battery to charge from 0 to 34 percent in 15 minutes.

Also, the warp charge 30 will fully charge the OnePlus 7 Pro in 1 hour 23 minutes.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 7T Pro uses the warp charge 30T fast charging technology which is claimed to be 23 percent faster than that of the OnePlus 7 Pro.

In conclusion, the battery capacity of the OnePlus 7T Pro has an 85 mAh increase over that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. It also has a 23 % increase in its fast charging rate than the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Therefore, I will rate the OnePlus 7T Pro an eight in this section while I rate the OnePlus 7 Pro a seven.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro: Storage Options and Performance

For storage, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers two options. It is available with an internal storage capacity of 128 GB as well as 256 GB.

Thankfully, with the OnePlus 7 Pro users have the option to choose the option that will best suit their storage needs. The 128 GB model of the OnePlus 7 Pro is more than sufficient for light to average storage users.

Meanwhile, the 256 GB model will be sufficient for heavy storage users. However, you can expect that the 256 GB models will be more expensive than the 128 GB models.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 7T Pro is only available with a single internal storage option. Specifically, it is available with a storage capacity of 256 GB.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro have no SD card slot for external storage expansion. This should not be a problem because, in my opinion, the internal storage capacities of these phones are satisfactory.

In conclusion, the OnePlus 7 Pro gives users two storage options to choose from based on their storage needs and budget. However, the OnePlus 7T Pro only offers one storage option.

Therefore, users who do not need as much storage as the OnePlus 7T Pro offers have no choice but to pay for the extra space they might not need.

Considering that, the OnePlus 7 Pro is my top pick for this section. Hence, I will rate it a nine.

On the other hand, I will rate the OnePlus 7T Pro an eight in this section of the review.

OnePlus 7 Pro vs 7T Pro Security Features and Sensors

Next up is the security features and sensors comparison of the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro. Regarding that, the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro pack an equal number of sensors.

These sensors include the fingerprint, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, electronic compass, laser sensor, proximity, and sensor core. Starting with the fingerprint sensor, as I already mentioned, it is located on-screen.

Hence, when you place your registered finger on the fingerprint region of the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro, your phone will be unlocked. Fingerprint authentication is a very secure way of keeping your phone from unauthorized access, as no two people share the same fingerprint.

In addition to unlocking the phone, you can also use the fingerprint sensor to authenticate payment and sign in to some applications that support this feature.

It is important to mention that before you use the fingerprint sensor to unlock an app, you must enable it within the app’s settings.

The next sensor from our list is the accelerometer. Just as the name implies, an accelerometer measures acceleration or motion.

The accelerometer measures the movement of your phone, such as shakes and tilts. It also senses the orientation of your phone.

However, the accelerometer is not the only sensor that measures motion. That brings us to talk about the gyroscope, which makes more accurate motion measurements.

The gyroscope measures rotational motion. Therefore, the accelerometer and gyroscope are important sensors in detecting the orientation of the smartphone and changing the orientation automatically.

If you recall, I mentioned in the camera section that the front and rear cameras on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro use the gyroscope and EIS to prevent shakes in videos.

The job of the gyroscope is to detect the shakes and also help the EIS to stabilize the videos.

Next up is the ambient light sensor. This sensor detects the intensity of light surrounding the smartphone and adjusts screen brightness as required.

If you recall correctly, in the display section, I mentioned that the maximum screen brightness of these phones would only be reached if auto-brightness is enabled and the ambient light sensor is activated.

Therefore, when the ambient light sensor is activated, and it senses high light intensity, it increases the screen brightness. Also, if the sensor detects low light intensity, it reduces the screen brightness.

Having talked about the ambient light sensor, let’s proceed to the electronic compass. The electronic compass is a sensor that helps your phone to detect the direction it is facing.

Hence, the information is sent to apps that use GPS in other to track your location and give directions.

Now let’s also talk about the laser sensor. This sensor helps with better focusing when taking pictures and recording videos.

The OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are also inbuilt with a proximity sensor. This sensor detects the closeness of objects to the smartphone screen and switches off the display.

We can see the application of the proximity sensor when you place your phone close to your ears during calls. When the proximity sensor senses the closeness of the phone screen to your ear, it turns off the display to avoid unintended screen inputs.

Lastly, in this section, we will talk about the sensor core, which is also built into the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro. The sensor core helps these phones to collect information from the sensors we have talked about without affecting battery life.

Additionally, the sensor core acts as the buffer between the sensors and the apps that use these sensors. Sensors like the compass send data to the sensor core, then apps like the GPS access the data through the sensor core.

This brings us to the end of the security and sensors comparison section. From all we have said in this section, it is obvious that the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro packs an equal number of sensors.

Hence, they get a draw in this section of the review. In light of that, I will rate the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro each an eight in this section.

The OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are phones that will undoubtedly turn heads. These phones got a lot of things right though they miss out on some high-end features like water resistance.

Still, the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro are qualified to compete favorably with other brands’ flagships. Unsurprisingly, you will be spending quite a lot on the new versions of these phones.

However, you can always cut down costs by reaching for the used versions. For prices, the new version of the OnePlus 7 Pro starts at $1,175 in March 2022 while a used version was listed for $249.75 on Amazon.

On the other hand, a new version of the OnePlus 7T Pro starts at $1,411.00. Meanwhile, the used version starts at $362.00.

Therefore, if you have about $1,175 to shell out for a new phone or about $249.75 for a used one, I recommend the OnePlus 7 Pro.

However, if you want a better overall performance from your phone and you do not mind spending about $1,411.00 for a new version or $362.00 for a used version, then I recommend the OnePlus 7T Pro.
